Haircut for Brandon

I took Brandon to Supercuts to get a haircut. The last couple haircuts he got were done at home by Craig and I and the last time didn't come out very well. His hair has become so course that all it will do is stick straight up. I thought if I let it grown out some that I could get it to lay down but that didn't work and I finally got so tired of looking at him with crazy hair that I got it all cut off. With it so short I can start to train it to lay down and part it to the side. Here is hoping at least!!

Quotes and Sayings

I had a Young Women's activity last night at one of our leader's home and she has a craft room that any women would drool over whether you scrapbook or not!! She used to do that for a business and has everything immaginable for scrapbooking. Every time she teaches, she gives out the cutest handouts and always has treats in cute bags or decorated boxes, etc. Anyway, while at her home, she had out a rolodex full of cute quotes and sayings. Of course, by the time I saw it, it was almost time to go so I jottled down the ones that I liked the best. Thought I would share so here they are...

Can you imagine a world without men?
No crime and lots of happy fat women!!

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems,
but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Cleaning your house while your kids are still growing up
is like shoveling snow before it stops snowing

Happy Valentine's Day!!

A day to remember: Craig and I got engaged on Valentine's Day 13 years old...13 years!! Does that age me or what?!? Anyway, other than that momentous occasion, we usually don't do too much on this day. I think it is way over-hyped and I hate to think about the money it cost for roses this time of year. I told Craig years ago to not bother with flowers and get me sweets instead - cookies, chocolate, etc. For Valentine's this year, I'm doing something I've never done - cooking food that I'll never eat!! Craig loves German food (don't know where he gets it from) but he hardly ever gets a chance to have it. His once a year treat would be at the Texas State Fair where he'd load up on bratwurst having several throughout the day. So this year I pulled out my Taste of Home magazines and I'm making him cabbage rolls, german potato salad with sausage, sweet milk dinner rolls, and tiramisu for dessert (I know tiramisu is Italian but he loves it and I couldn't find a german dessert except for german chocolate cake - he'd rather have the tiramisu) We'll be putting the kids down to bed early and having a nice romantic dinner. He'll have his german food and I'll be having a hot pocket and soup. I know, boring right, but it sounds good to me right now so I'm going with it.

Super Bowl XLII

Craig loves the NFL season and especially the Super Bowl. I've actually become a huge fan myself so we like to watch the games together. I was disappointed that the Indianapolis Colts weren't playing again this year (they won the Super Bowl last year) but I just wanted to make sure that the New England Patriots didn't win. They are big rivals of the Colts and I'd hate to see them pull off the perfect season and go down in NFL history. Since it was fast Sunday, I did all my cooking and baking on Saturday so that when we got home from church, all I had to do was pull all the food out of the fridge and we could eat and watch the big game. I think I was in the kitchen most of Saturday. I baked 4 loaves of bread, make cranberry oat bars, baked cut-out sugar cookies and made frosting, made a cheese ball, and threw together a pasta dish for Saturday night to go with our Pizza Hut pizza. Then of course since we fasted, once I could eat, I ate so much I was sick the rest of the night. The sugar cookies threw my over the edge - I can't stop eating them!! The game was great and the Giants won!! Here are some pictures of me and the kids before we headed out to church on Super Bowl Sunday.

Potty Training Time

The last couple weeks I've been asking Briana if she wants to sit on the potty. She'll nod her head "yes" but doesn't want to take off her pants or diaper. I'm just glad that she isn't scared of the thing and at least we moving a step in the right direction. She'll ask for a book or a stuffed animal to keep her company and then after awhile she'll be ready to get off. Then yesterday I asked if she wanted to take off her diaper before she sits on the potty and she said "yes". I'm thinking, "okay, this is good" and then I told her that she'll get a treat if she goes on the potty. All of a sudden I hear a tinkling sound and see a big smile on her face. I couldn't believe that she did it. Then I asked her if she wanted her diaper back on and she said "no". Okay, this IS good!! I go upstairs to get her some panties and she is all excited. We did put a diaper on her last night but it was dry this morning and she has been using the potty since. No accidents yet but so far...so good!!
